CARNIVOROUS PLANT ECOSYSTEM
Here’s a little update on the carnivorous bogscape that I made at the start of January 2025. So far everything is looking great, though there were a couple of little issues. I lost one of the sundews on the front left because I placed it in a position under the front left branch which blocked it from getting almost any light. I just didn’t react quickly enough to move it and it sadly died.
As you can see the pitcher plant has gone crazy and there are 2 more large pitchers at the back as well which is really cool to see. The Sarracenia is also doing well, though I will eventually swap it out for a tropical species so this one can have its required winter dormancy.

My biggest surprise though has been the Utricularia Graminifolia (UG) carpet at the front of the tank. I’ve actually managed to keep it alive (My first time growing UG) and it has about 80-90% coverage at the moment. I had a little bit of meltback at the very start but I think that was just damage from tearing it apart to plant it.

You may notice that I don’t currently have the same light on the tank and that’s simply because it’s on a long shelf with other plants and now. It has a Sinkor 90cm light over it instead of the dedicated SideFix light. My girlfriend wanted to put some of her plants on the same shelf so switching to a light that covered the entire shelf rather than a single tank made more sense.
